Digital Transcoding
Transcoding enables customers to convert their audio or video assets into formats optimized for the vast array of content delivery methods currently in use—from high definition to web to mobile. This effectively helps customers extend their content’s use and reach. The service is free to use for all customers, and fully automated and accessible through SoftLayer’s proprietary customer portal.
SoftLayer’s transcoding service features a simple drag and drop interface for uploading original media files. The files are uploaded over SoftLayer’s private network—with unlimited bandwidth—to a transcoding server farm where they are then reformatted to a myriad of other formats and bit rates.
