SoftLayer and McAfee Partner to Provide Free Payment Card Industry Standards Compliance
June 24, 2008, Dallas, TX – SoftLayer and McAfee have partnered to offer all SoftLayer customers McAfee’s comprehensive Payment Card Industry (PCI) security compliance scanning service at no cost. The service’s retail price is normally $319 per year.
The service will help SoftLayer customers to meet the requirements set by the PCI Security Standards Council’s Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) version 1.1. Credit card companies and banks worldwide require e-commerce merchants to comply with the multi-faceted security standard, which includes the requirements of Visa’s Cardholder Information Security Program (CISP) and MasterCard’s Site Data Protection (SDP) program.
McAfee’s service includes a wide range of value-adding features that far exceed the basic vulnerability scanning that PCI DSS requires, including:
- Scheduled quarterly and unlimited manual scans
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) vulnerability remediation support
- Online self-assessment questionnaire assistance
- Online assistance for preparing a required PCI security policy
- Unlimited telephone technical support
- Direct submission of compliance reports to banks
- Full-service program starting at 6 IP addresses
Upon completion of the audit, the service issues a Report of Compliance that is accepted by all credit card companies and banks worldwide.
Nathan Day, Chief Technology Officer of Softlayer, stated, "Security on the Internet has always been one of the greatest challenges to conducting commerce. This solution will allow all SoftLayer customers to increase the safety and trust in their on-line stores and businesses."
