SoftLayer Adds IPMI 2.0 To Management Portal

Dallas—February 15, 2006—Today, dedicated hosting provider SoftLayer Technologies announced the integration of IPMI 2.0 Server Management with their proprietary management portal. "With the addition of IPMI 2.0, available through SoftLayer's Private network, customers now have multiple paths to manage their environment," said Nathan Day, Chief Technology Officer of SoftLayer Technologies.

According to Mr. Day, the SoftLayer management portal was designed to be modular in nature with the ability to quickly and seamlessly adapt to continuous technology changes. With the newly added IPMI 2.0, customers now have access to key features including, remote reboot, remote console, server monitoring, and granular reporting.

"Our primary job is to focus on the customer interface or window into the IT environment," said Mr. Day. "We do not design or write operating systems, control panels, security systems, firewalls, databases, or many of the other technologies we deploy. But we do combine them in order to create an easy-to-use management system."

Additionally, the SoftLayer customer portal serves as the launching point for service delivery, reporting, management, and control, allowing total management of the network, hardware, software, and applications. The portal offers additional value-added services, providing control to other existing SoftLayer methodologies such as the network-within-the-network approach, true out-of-band access via SSL VPN, and more.

Included in all of SoftLayer's service offerings, the customer portal also provides billing information, user administration, advanced resolution system, new service ordering, change management, and historical information for trending analysis.
