Datacenter Positions

SoftLayer is seeking highly motivated individuals to work in a fast moving large datacenter environment. General responsibilities include the installation, configuration, and management of Intel and AMD x86 servers. The current install base of 18000+ servers includes the latest dual, quad, and hex core technologies. Candidates should have strength on one area with broad IT experience. Training is provided. Salary is commensurate with experience and education. Multiple positions are available for immediate hire. Shifts include day/evening/overnight. Datacenter positions are currently available in Dallas, Seattle and Washington DC.

Position: Infrastructure Engineer

Responsibilities

Shipping/Receiving of servers & datacenter infrastructure
Assembly and Installation of server racks and ladder racks
Unpacking, racking and cabling of servers and network equipment
Core Infrastructure cabling including ethernet, fiber and power

Experience

Shipping/Receiving or warehouse experience
Ability to lift and move 50 to 75lb objects
Cable assembly, installation or electrical
Tremendous opportunity for persons wanting to enter IT

Position: Server Build Engineer

Responsibilities

Rack, build, cable, configure, and provision Intel and AMD servers
Rack, cable, and deploy Cisco Layer 2 networking equipment
Troubleshoot, test, quality assurance of server hardware
Professionally resolve hardware issues via trouble ticket

Experience

Operating System Installation - Windows Server, Linux, Unix
Rack, cable, and deploy Cisco Layer 2 networking equipment
Web Server Installation - IIS 6.0, Apache
Database Installation - MySQL, MSSQL
Remote Management - RDC / SSH / TS
Hardware Installation: SATA / SAS / RAID / RAM

Position: Data Center Engineer

Responsibilities

Install, Configure and Troubleshoot Intel and AMD server hardware
Install, Configure and Troubleshoot Cisco network equipment and load balancing
Install, Configure and Troubleshoot Firewall, IPTables, AV, IDS, Anti-SPAM
Install, Configure and Troubleshoot Web, Mail, Database and App Servers
Serve as tier 2 & 3 support to the tier 1 support desk
Professionally resolve escalated issues via trouble ticket and phone

Experience

Operating Systems - Windows, Red Hat, Fedora, BSD, Debian, Ubuntu
Web Servers - IIS and Apache
Database - MySQL, MSSQL, Postgres
Control Panel Software - cPanel, Plesk, Helm, Virtuozzo, VMWare

Development Positions

Development positions are currently available in Dallas.

Position: Senior Developer

Responsibilities
